As JPIC FRANCISCAN AFRICA, we are pleased to share with you the success of our work with the young people in transforming the society. Here below is a report from group of young people in Mbazi - Rwanda  currently changing the society using skills they learned from a training organized by JPIC in Nairobi. In this report they have highlighted  various joint actions on social , health, environmental, economical and political issues which  aims at promoting both The JPIC and The Franciscan Values in the society.

Who are friends of peace club?
The friends of peace started working after the 2009 workshop that held in Nairobi, still we are working and we started to get fruit from our work such as the charity actions, justice advocacy, and environmental protection and so on. We are group of 86 volunteers composed by students, both unemployed and employed, class drop and those who doesn’t attained class, we are under the governance of NDAGIJIIMANA Gustave as President and NSANZIMANA Eugene(Vice -President)
Achieved actions from 2009 to20013.
Ø   We participated in Nairobi workshop.
Ø  Then after we participate in Mwanza workshop
Ø  Inaugurations of friends of peace in Mbazi parish.
Ø  Participation and publication of JPIC in collective works.
Ø  The partnership   with the sectors level    within which we are working.
Ø  The plantation of grown trees now equivalent about 15,000 during 4 years. Each agriculture year, season A, with the help of our parish  we organize trees plantation at district level  there we met Burundians in protection of environment actions
Ø  Organization of collective works, to protect people from erosion , pollution ,and climate change
Ø  The protection of environment doesn’t limit on district level but is on nation level and international level through this we participated in trees plantation that held in Burundi last year.
Ø  In every1994 genocide’s 100 days of memory we organize charity actions toward the 1994 genocide survivals there we cultivate their lands, housing constructions…, to help them continue to survive.
Ø  The vulnerable and poor ,  for them we participated in housing construction of their houses trough the partnership with the sector  and all people in the vision of ending house of leaves there we keep on  bricks  fabric and trees transportation.
Ø  We are helping each others as members of Friends of peace club; if one of us has a problem at homes we keep it as ours to develop ties of solidarity among us. last year we participate in housing construction of one of us ,after being damaged with the flood
Ø  We have directed charity toward the patients in this last year of 2012, we visited the patients  at KABUTARE hospital , there we gave them soaps, sugar ,fruits… using money from our pocket through which we call GUFASHA ABANDI,
Ø  Without limit on the patients we visited the prisoners at works( TIG) giving them direct help and counseling,
Ø  Now we are searching how this club that aims to works for peace and justice has to be inaugurated into universities, here a little work has been done in ULK but we still bargaining.
Ø   We are working into great partnership with the commission of peace that works in RUGANGO Parish.

EXPECTATIONS
Ø  We friends of peace in order to protect our environment specifically our land we expect to dig five or more anti-erosive dams of water at MWULIRE hills in Mbazi sector.
Ø  We expect continue working with sector in planting trees.
Ø  We expect to prepare the workshop towards members and out-group specifically youth in order to make them gaining from the knowledge we got from this last workshop of Kigali- Rwanda, through the themes of protecting environment.
Ø   We expect to search how we as friend of peace we can intervene in economical activity in other to raise our economic capacity that the surplus in turn will help us to offer charity to poor people.
Ø  We expect to establish the charity week into our parish, where the day to day gained will be directed towards vulnerable people and teaching them how to overcame the poverty(not giving them fish, but how to get fish)
Ø  To direct the advocacy toward injustice, environmental or ecological injustice, then to deliver actions that protect the environment
Ø   With the shortage of wood energies  we are going to sensitize people to use the “rockets” RONDEREZA, CANAMAKE  means use few energies,
Ø  Water protection , not baying bottled water from the industries but natural water from local source ,and sensitize people to consume after checking where the product are coming from to ensure environmental justice  .
Ø  We expect to  open the free club in KIVUMU parish, that  will  be stronger and help us to overcome the issues in that region
Ø  We expect to works as well as to develop   the altruistic sense into people and being message transmitters to the whole region, though being model.

Wishes
Ø  Continuing formations or workshops that ensure environmental protection and human rights and others related themes will be of great pleasure.
Ø  Financial capacity still is governed by global economic crisis, we need funds to mobilize our inactivated drivers, a little has been done, There is a hope.
Challenges
Ø  In group and out group. The new are not formed enough.
Ø  Ignorance and illiteracy among people.
Ø  Poverty,
Ø  Low economical capacity.
